Holy cow... I cannot believe, I got my green card today...
My online case status changed to card production ordered today (1 hour ago).
I had filed during july fiasco and was not abel to send my medical tests , so had got RFE.
Then i took the medicals and sent the response in july 2009, and the status remained RFE response received for a long time.
I called NSC and opened a service request on Aug 18.
Guys believe me Service Request does miracles, they just approved it now.
So my journey came to an end after 7 years.
If I got green card, the whole credit goes to IV. You guys are really great, learnt a lot from this forum. Kudos to you all...
I will continue to visit these forums and help as much as I can.

like others mentioned. i was on shocked state for a while. still could not believe. pl find out the other options asap and get into action. GC can come and go. Don not compromise with GC and GC dream etc. Life is the most precious and un comparable one. consult more doctors here as you can or go india and get it consulted. for many this which were diagnosed as complex and un-curable, indian doctors might have easy solution. just go see them you'll be fine. I understand its easy to to suggest but pain to be in that position. On top of all these trust in GOD. We'll will pray for you.

Fact is the modern western cultures that empower women, encourage them to the workplace, make contraception/abortion freely available and make alternative lifestyles a choice, leads to a drop in fertility rates. Liberal leaning countries have amongst the lowest fertility rates, well below replacement levels.
The above makes it an imperative to import labour and yes sheer people to take care of the old and infirm, to keep the service sector rolling even if manufacturing etc is outsourced. The only question is what kind of immigration and how much of it. In short the answer is the USA is not a dumb country, it generally always acts in its self interest faced with these choices. I believe EB immigration will soon be liberalised. This would be a smart thing especially if coupled with a crackdown on illegal immigration.
US population is growing yes, but the elderly population is exploding. More are getting older (baby boomers) and once there there they are sticking aroung longer. I wish there was a measure of working age population only, the growth of that population is probably much less than that of the general population.

A note to my fellow IV members - I am not after the $42/Hr job. Good luck in finding a US citizen to do this job. I was wrong about EEO, it is actually IRCA which prohibits discrimination in recruitment and hiring.

But the point remains - visa status based discrimination is illegal not matter which law is being violated, and must be highlighted. We have to correct the misinformation spread by anti-immigrant groups that most jobs are "reserved for H1Bs", while the reality is different. Most jobs are "reserved" for American workers (although such reservation is illegal under IRCA). We have to provide the proof that the myth of "thousands of jobs reserved for foreign workers" in nothing but a myth. My posting is a small step in that direction.
Here is another one in the continuing series of exposing the highly prevalent illegal hiring practice. I request everyone to start posting similar job-ads you get from recruiters. Once we get a hundred or more ads here, we can start E-mailing the links to the media.

you need to look at the money that you must have earned/saved and then be happy about it. also the system sucks but they made it that way for a purpose. US doesnot want a flood of immigrants and hence these quotas. ofcourse because of the strict system they had to face a bigger problem i.e. illegal immigration. In the end you need to realise that the only country which has open arms for you is your home country.
my friend correctly told me ..if uscis tells me that I have to go back ..I will pack in a day and go back. we know english and have computer skills, we will get a job anywhere in the world.
also focus on the positives ..for eg I am happy that because of these delays I didnt run and buy a house in usa (which is one of the worst investments that a person can make).

Those H1b numbers for last year were really an eye opener for me. Sadly unless they decide to treat those issues in tandem, ie cap both or uncap both, this issue is only destined to get worse, recession or no recession.
On your point about the data not backing up people returning, that issue is multi-dimentional. Sure, if you have come here laid down roots, bought a house, have kids in school etc, you will have a higher tolerance for this crap, but we are in a new phase here, where we have people who came here legally and are now seeing unprecedented retrogression in EB immigration. There is no precedent for this in EB immigration, even pre-Ac21 the retrogression was not as severe. When was the last time EB2 had sustained retrogression over 5 yrs for that long? EB3 for 8 yrs sustained? Additionally those factors I mentioned are real, US citizen kids, eligibility for benefits base on accumulated SS credits etc. The US will eventually have to come to terms with those issues as will the immigrants.
Also newer immigrants will have reason for pause in their decisions. Some(the best ones) may not come, others that come will repatriate their savings, will not buy homes, etc. All of that represents behavior that would not be in the US interest. Of course I am not sure US lawmakers think that deep, but just saying.

We too got the magic emails saying our 485 has been approved. It was indeed a long journey that started back in 2000. Happy that it all ended well. My priority date is Dec 2005. We too got the magic emails saying our 485 has been approved. It was indeed a long journey that started back in 2000. Happy that it all ended well. My priority date is Dec 2005. I am sure the democrats can harp on the point that non-passage of CIR means that an effective security component too does not go into effect. Point to note though is how effectively the message is delivered.

but these numbers you quote are certifications not applications right? many applications during these years may be in BECs? and does this include both EB3, EB2 and other categories ??
